History of RFD
The group RFD was originally founded in 1920 in England by Reginald Foster Dagnall
whose initials define the naming of the company. The innovation in
this period was the creation and the development of inflatable
ballcocks intended for planes and seaplanes. This
system constitutes the precursor of the rafts of survival such as
we know them today.
The RFD survival rafts allowed the survival of numerous sailors during the Second World War. Afterward, RFD was at the origin of the developments and of the evolution in the field of the maritime security and the safety equipments.
Nowadays,
the survival rafts and life jackets RFD are used in the maritime sector
but also in the air transport and the military transport.
RFD has
two sites of manufacturing in the United Kingdom and employ 600
persons. In supplement of the approvals necessary for the activity
of safety, all the entities must be certified ISO
9001:2008.
